This mockumentary reveals the pitfalls of too many lottery winners

Rothco follows a day in the too-busy life of burnt-out house band The Celebrations in film for the Irish National Lottery

Being in a house band is a cushy gig, but it can get a little boring, especially when you've been at it for 30 years.

The relentless monotony has gotten to The Celebrations, a party band from yesteryear that's trotted out to fête each and every winner of the Irish National Lottery. Unfortunately for the musicians, there are a lot of winners these days.

The band's travails play out in a charmingly hilarious mini-mockumentary in the style of "Spinal Tap." Yeah, the old days of groupies and occasional gigs were great, but now the quartet can't even get enough down time to go to the bathroom, what with the constant parade of winners trotting through lotto headquarters to pick up their giant novelty checks. Birthdays and proper bedtimes fall to the wayside as fainting, crying and screaming people collect their winnings, while The Celebrations give one lackluster performance after another.

The 60-second spot is from Dublin creative agency Rothco. Three shorter spots will air in the next few weeks, and the campaign includes radio, cinema, out-of-home, print, social media and point-of-sale placements.
